Mmmm, goody

This is so good that I have to share the recipe with you (and by "this" I mean the food I'm eating as I write). I'd take a picture with my brand new camera (Ixus 85) but the battery hasn't been charging for long enough, yet. So you just have to take my word for it that the dish looks good and tastes even gooder.

Chop an onion, maybe two, + 1-2 cloves of garlic. Splash some olive oil onto the pan and throw in the onions/garlic. Add just maybe a table spoon of cream and the same amount of tomato purée. Add some plum tomatoes (maybe 5-8), cut in four pieces. Let the sauce simmer until the tomatoes let out some juice and then add a handful of fresh, chopped basil and oregano and a dash of water. Add some salt and black pepper, then mix everything so that the taste becomes a bit more balanced. Finally, add about a half a packet of diced feta (or "Mediterranean cheese", for crying out loud). Don't mix the cheese in but let it slowly slightly melt on top of the sauce for a minute or two while you wait for your penne to become al dente. Finish off with some parmesan shavings. Buon appetito!

I've been emptying my office today. On Tuesday the staff took me out to Teini to eat and gave me a gift voucher for Lippupalvelu. I was really blown away, I didn't expect a farewell party let alone a send-off gift of any sort. Even JV was there, in spite of having retired in February. What can I say, I was touched.
